2014 FIELD TRIPS
In addition to our annual “Summer Soiree” Garden Party, we’ve decided to add some fun group “field trips” to the 2014 line up. We’ve had requests for more Saturday learning opportunities and we’ve decided to take the Club “on the road” once per month through most of the season. Field trips will focus on a variety of home & garden topics and will take place out in the community. We’ve tried to make the field trips free to attend but several of them may require the purchase of a ticket at the venue we’re attending- those costs will be listed with the field trip opportunity below. In addition, we will generally go out to lunch on field trips as well so come prepared.
All field trips will begin by meeting at the Conservation Garden Park Education Center, 8275 South 1300 West, West Jordan, Utah. We’ll then carpool from there as needed.
NOTE: Field trips may require us to limit numbers based on the size of the venue. For this reason, we ask that you pre-register to attend HERE. Thanks!
We’ll be joining a local designer for a day out at Salt Lake’s most comprehensive antique store- Anthony’s Antiques. We’ll learn about the difference between “Vintage” and “Antique” as well as furniture styles, do’s and don’ts and more all while gawking at the finest selection of amazing pieces in Utah. Anthony’s imports antiques from all over the globe so you’re guaranteed to see some amazing treasures! Bring lunch money as we’ll also be stopping for lunch at Gourmandise Bakery.

10:00 am- 2:00 pm
This activity is co-sponsored by Vintage Yard Sale Utah. We’ll be pairing up thrifting “newbies” with experienced thrifters then checking out some of the great places to find sweet deals. One of the great tricks to creating successful vintage style is to lean to “see” the object as it might become rather than how it is at the moment. “Upcycling” is like “recycling” but the item is turned into MORE through the process than it originally may have been. There is no charge to attend but be sure to bring “lunch money”. Shopping money optional. Come spend a little time with us on the hunt for that next upcycled treasure!

This is a great opportunity to check out the perennials that will be available in local nurseries this spring- it will also help you be ready to get the most our of our May “Landscape Refresh” class! We have decided that this year we’ll work with our friends in the real estate industry to schedule an open house tour of some unique homes. We will have to limit numbers for these tours and we will only have a few weeks advance notice but we think it will be a fun way to play lookie-loo without hassle!
